World Orphan Connection

World Orphan Connection (WOC) is a Colorado based 501c3 Non-profit organization, founded in 2004. The original goal was to support orphans on a world-wide basis, and our organization was involved in numerous meaningful projects. During CoVid, we chose to pivot, and shift our focus to serving “orphans” in our own back yard by supporting foster children and families. We have built treasure boxes for foster kids, which served to provide a beautiful place to store their belongings, as they move from home to home. We have refurbished furniture and have started a “Tools for Teens” program which, once it’s in full force, will provide tools for foster youth entering the trades via a trade school or an apprenticeship.

How this all started…..

In 2004, Betsy Meredith, the Founder was a First Generation, non-traditional, scholar at Colorado State University in Fort Collins Colorado. Still trying to determine a life plan, she had a “lightbulb” moment when her two younger brothers returned from a trip to Russia, where they had spent several weeks “clowning” with Dr. Patch Adams. The boys went from orphanage to orphanage spreading laughter and joy to the orphaned children in both Moscow and St. Petersburg. Upon their return, Betsy, being moved by their stories, began putting some ideas together that ultimately blossomed into World Orphan Connection. As we are working on our website, please enjoy a bit more about our history in the video.
